He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Gene "Robbie" Robinson and Lucella May Young (Howard); his stepson Christopher John Shaffer; and his granddaughter Aiyana Emily Gauvin. He is survived by: his daughter Cassandra Blythe Segal (Robinson); his grandchildren, Devin William Robinson and Kira Alexis Pruitt (Sliger); his stepgranddaughter Ce'Nedra Ann Henrickson (Robinson); and his sister Melinda Elaine Robinson of Indianapolis.
After a worsening period of worsening pneumonia in the summer of 2004, he contracted a staph infection and Covid-19 in addition to the pneumonia.
