He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Carmichael and Ruth Carmichael (Carl); his siblings, Dale, Laurel, Ferris and Anna Mae Anderson; and his daughter JoAnn.

He is survived by: his wife Harriett Carmichael; his children, Patrick of Marion, David of West Lafayette and Janet Jones (Rick) of Goshen; his grandsons, Eric (Tara) of Knox, Corey of Marion, Adam of Goshen and Alex (Emily) of Elkhart; his great grandchildren, Makena (Dawson) of Goshen and Brevin of Ft. Wayne; and his grandchildren, Kali of Goshen and Casen of Huntington.
