He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rice and Augusta "Mae" Rice; his wife Connie Mitchell; his son Marvin Eugene Rice; and his siblings, Louis Rice, Joe Rice, Kathleen Rice, Maxine Soward, Margaret Tubbs, Wanda Eads and Inez Fish.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Tyler Rice, Marion, Ashley Christy (Shaun), Virginia and Josh Poling; his sister Lucy Woodard (Marion); his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Hall and Roger Fish; his great grandchildren, Kiley E. Christy, Samuel Eugene Christy, Jace Eugene Rice, Elias R. Rice and Madden Marvin Rice; and his friend April Randolph. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
