He was predeceased by: his parents, Yvonne Hubbard Shipman and Tommy Lee Shipman; his brothers, Michael Shipman and Tommy Lee Shipman, Jr.; his wife Priscilla "Pat" Lee Meadows Shipman; and his sister-in-law Kay Shipman.

He is survived by: his son Howard Shipman, Sr. (Maggie) of Madison, Indiana; his grandson Howard Shipman, Jr. (Mary); his great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Landon and Kaylee; and his siblings, John Shipman (Teresa) of Madison, Jess Shipman of Madison, Robert Shipman (Ruth) of Madison, Indiana and Jennifer Yates Moulden of Clarksville, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
