He was predeceased by: his parents, Elva (Young) and Clyde A. Berline. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Shawhan Berline; his children, Scott (Julie), Holly and Leigh; and his grandchildren, Zach, Cory, Sarah, Tyler, Clayton, James, Ellen, Claire, Mac and Danner. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
True to his values, he asked that contributions be made to the South Madison Community Foundation's Bright Futures Fund for grants that will focus on improving the lives and structures (like the restoration of the Friends Meeting House) in South Madison in lieu of flowers.
