It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert Stewart Elswick of Madison, Indiana, born in Whitesburg, Kentucky, who passed away on November 7, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Elswick and Daisy Elswick (Bentley); his wife Annetta Elswick; his son-in-law Dave Vernon; his grandson Steven Vernon; his great grandchild McKenzie Nickell; and his siblings, Elzie Elswick, Bluford Elswick and Christine Cook.
He is survived by: his children, Trina Vernon of Scottsburg, Rod Elswick (Karen) of Cross Plains, James "Jay" Elswick (Angela) of North Vernon and Twila Nickell of Madison; his siblings, Mary Joyce Tackett of Virgie, Kentucky and Andrew Elswick of Florence, Kentucky; and his grandchildren, Derek Buchanan (Leslie), Nathan Nickell, Natalie McCollough (Dustin), Noah Nickell (Heather), Neci Nickell, Nan Warren (Will), Shea Mays (Chad), Maranda Ater (Jordan), Robert Vernon (Karen) and Amber Howard. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel (117 Holt Dr, Madison, IN 47250). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at the Grandview Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
