With solemn reverence, we commemorate Richard D. Carter of Madison, Indiana, born in Gothenburg, Nebraska, whose life came to an end on August 9, 2024 at the age of 93, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil M. Carter and Elizabeth Olds Carter; his former wife Laura Flagg Carter; and his sisters, Beverly Carter Miller and Judi Carter.

He is survived by: his wife Paula Lynn Giles Carter of Madison, Indiana; his children, Marcia Ann Ryan of Cincinnati, Richard "Mike" Michael Carter (Karen) of Cincinnati and Christopher "Chris" M. Giles (Cashae) of Madison, Indiana; his grandchildren, Laura Nichole Lambe (David) and Carter Terrelle Giles; and his great grandchild Adelaide Belle Lambe (Zachary Carter Lambe). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
