He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Lee Griffin and Kathelene Patterson Griffin Amburgey; his granddaughter Octavia Lynn Lee Griffin; his brothers, Clifford Melvin Griffin, Allen Wayne "Bull Whip" Griffin and George Alexander Griffin; his sister-in-law Penny Griffin; his close friend Laura Jeann Stewart; his nephew Jason Lee Lyons; and his niece Terri Griffin.
He is survived by: his wife Melinda Brierly Wyatt Griffin of Madison, Indiana; his children, Joseph Kerry Griffin, Jr. (Ashley) of Sellersburg, Jessie Lee Griffin of Madison, Indiana and Carey "Dani" Danielle Brooke Calhoun (Ryan) of North Vernon, Indiana; his grandchildren, Autumn, Brianna, Noah, Jaxon, Joie, Peyton, Davanie, Reignlynne and Ryann; his great grandchildren, Ryder, Zaylee and Jayvion; his siblings, Linda Griffin of Madison, Karen Dale Griffin Tingle (Luke Lucas) of Madison, Indiana, Richard Wilking (Kathy) of Madison, Roger Young (Sandy) of Madison and Robert Allen Ford (Priscilla) of LaCenter, Washington; and his sisters-in-law, CeCe Griffin of Columbus and Karen Jester of Madison, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
