He was predeceased by: his parents, Maymie Skirvin Day and Emmett Russell Day, Sr.; his wife Ruby Ann Couch Day; and his siblings, John Alfred Day and Evelyn Lee Day Dermon.
He is survived by: his sons, Doug Day (Kim) of Madison and Brian Day (Sarah) of Madison; his grandchildren, Taylor Day (Kayla), Reed Day, Gabe Day and Emily Ayler (Aaron); his great grandchildren, Landon, Chad, Zoe, Jaxson and Ezra; and his sister Mary C. Baker (Martin) of Carrollton, Kentucky. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
