He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Taylor and Lucille Smith Taylor; and his sister Donna Gray Reed. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca A. "Becky" Schmidt Taylor of Madison, Indiana; his son Steven Schmidt (Jami) of Worthington, Ohio; his grandchildren, Gracelyn and Braeden; his niece Deanna Reed; his great-niece Ashley; and his siblings-in-law, Tony Schmidt (Jan) of Apex, Julie Dwyer (David) of Madison and Susan Kelley (Bernard) of Madison, Indiana.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre (325 Demaree Dr, Madison, IN 47250).
