She was predeceased by: her parents, Cecil J. Sedam and Otia Virginia Tilley Sedam; her husband David Wayne Thornton, Sr.; and her siblings, James Robert Sedam, James W. Sedam, Sr. and Charlotte Ann "Cassie" Sedam Alford.
She is survived by: her children, Virginia Sue Canfield (John) of Madison, Indiana, David "Chopper" Thornton, Jr. (Terry) of Lexington and Daniel Thornton of Madison, Indiana; her grandchildren, Savannah, Allison Bushong (Russell Boswell), Bryce Bushong (Kalie Gardner), Ethan Thornton (Savannah), Devin Thornton, Tyler Daniel Thornton, David Thornton and Aaron Copeland; her great grandchildren, Myles Boswell, Asiah Thornton and Jack Sweasy; and her brothers, Myrle Sedam (Ruthie) of Madison, Willie Sedam (Barbara) of Madison and Thomas Sedam of Madison, Indiana. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
