He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald J. Colvin and Edna Colvin (Varner); and his former wife Nancy Jo Colvin. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Colvin of Mackey; his children, Lesly Mackey (Neil) of West Lafayette, Donald C. Colvin (Sharon) of Patoka, Crystal Smith (George) of Owensville and Amber May (Jeff) of Princeton; his stepson Dean Phelps (Maren) of Francisco; his sister Joyce Friedman (Tony) of Princeton; his grandchildren, Alescia Bradshaw, Heather Burton, Morgan Mackey, Kiera Miller, Austin Phelps, Tori Pettigrew, Allison and Andrew May; and his stepgrandchildren, Jason Recker, Lenlee Haase, Laurel Vanhoosier, Michas, Preilis and Clayton Grider. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
