He was predeceased by: his son David Santy; and his siblings, Debbie Kohl, Frank Santy and Larry Maynard. He is survived by: his wife Susan; his children, Cheryl Austgen (Dwane) of Cedar Lake and Steven Santy (Heather) of West Lafayette; his grandchildren, Lauren and Natalie Austgen; and his brother Michael Maynard. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or the Lupus Foundation of America.
