He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Thomas Sr. and Eleanor Pauline "Polly" Ackerman (Harrod); and his brother David Brooks Ackerman. He is survived by: his siblings, Albert "Skip" Ackerman (Georgia) of Loogootee and Ann Ackerman of Loogootee; and his nephews, Eric Ackerman (Susan) of Loogootee, Dirk Ackerman (Lisa) of Ellettsville, Cameron Ackerman of Loogootee, Brant Ackerman (Renee) of Washington, Caleb Ackerman of Houston and Nathaniel Ackerman of Houston, TX. He is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John The Evangelist Church in Loogootee, Indiana.
