He was predeceased by: his parents, John O. Simmons and Melva Simmons (Hembree); and his sister Martha Kay Blessinger. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Simmons of Loogootee; his children, Stephen Simmons of Loogootee, Lori Moore of Loogootee and John "JD" Simmons of Loogootee; his grandchildren, Alli Squires, Ryan Simmons, Mandi Simmons, Jake Simmons and Monica Carnell; his great grandchildren, Leeland and Hunter Bays; and his sisters, Shelba June Cannon (Jim) of Loogootee and Ruth Ann Ziegler (George) of Loogootee.
