He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell W. Pankey and Virginia Rose Pankey (Haffley); his siblings, Patrick L. Pankey, Luanna Kay Pankey and Sherry Pankey Vogler; his nephew John R. Pankey; his nieces, Mandy Pankey and Debbie Fields; and his great-niece Brianna Varela.
He is survived by: his wife Waynette Pankey of Loogootee; his son James D. Pankey of Evansville; his grandson Thomas R. Pankey (Sam); his great grandchildren, Violet and Maeve Pankey; his brother Russel "Tick" Pankey; his friend Charlie Duffroy; his siblings-in-law, William Burch (Janet), Sylvester Vogler (Connie), Judy Pankey and Dianne Pankey Franklin; and his nephew Michael L. Pankey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for masses or the Martin County Humane Society.
