He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Hayden Fickas and Virginia Fickas (Faries); his wife Freda Fickas of Loogootee, IN; his children, Gerald Fickas Jr. (Tammy), Linda Dukes (Randy) and Gary Fickas; his siblings, Brenda Blume (Maurice) of Birdseye, IN, Sara "Becky" Little (Gary), Jeanne Neukam (Vince), Tommy Fickas of Colorado Springs, CO and Danny Fickas (Dolores); and his sister-in-law Doris Fickas (Thewes). He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish or to the Dubois County Humane Society.
