He was predeceased by: his parents, Norbert L. Barrett and Eleanor C. Barrett; his son Trooper Daniel Barrett (Indiana State Police); his siblings, Mary Ann Penz and William "Bill" Barrett; and his sister-in-law Sharon Barrett.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Jane Hanna; his children, Matthew D. Barrett of Logansport, Patrick J. Barrett of Logansport and Laura J. Barrett (Shannon Barrett); his brothers, Charles "Charlie" Barrett of Logansport and John "Ted" Barrett of Logansport; his grandsons, Nicholas Daniel Barrett and Jackson David Barrett; his brother-in-law Mark Penz; and his close friends, Arlo Skari of Montana and Tom Slattery of Colorado. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
