He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Sims and Clara Sims (Wells); and his siblings, Billie Emslie, Grover Sims, Jr., Jean Silveus and Claudia Sims.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Hughes; his children, Debra Pitkin (Jack) of Chattanooga, TN, Sherry Hendricks (Ken) of Grand Rapids, MI and Stephen Sims (Heide) of Logansport; his grandchildren, Caleb Pitkin (Samantha), Matthew Hendricks, Lisa Foote (Brandon), Kristen Smith (J. D.) and Rachel Forman (David); his great grandchildren, Lazarus Pitkin, Jules Smith, Abigail Foote and Gracelyn Foote; and his sister Ginevra Williams of North Port, Florida.
