She was predeceased by: her husband John; her parents, Neil W. Michael and Hazel Irene Michael; her grandchildren, Adam and Addison Sweet; her sister Patsy; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Vernon, Jr. and Jim Lowry.
She is survived by: her children, John Shaffer II (Lori) of Florida, Eric Shaffer (Joyce) of Logansport, Jennifer Grandstaff (Bill) of Lake Cicott and Amy Sommers (Christopher) of Logansport; her siblings-in-law, Jeffrey Shaffer (Bonnie) of Burrows and Joyce Lowry of Avon; her grandchildren, Alex Max, Austin Neil Grandstaff, Emilie, Haleigh, Caleb Sweet, Nicholas, Colin Shaffer and Lilly Shaffer; her stepgrandchildren, Madison, Whitney, Karlee and Reed Sommers; her niece Kim Walker; and her nephews, Sean McCloskey, Tim McCloskey, Bob Vernon and David Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
