He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Donald E. Nichols and Violet Nichols; his wife Sherry Ann Widner; his daughters, Michelle Nichols-Elliott (Daniel) of Logansport and Shelly Rutledge (Russell) of Peru; his grandsons, Dylan Elliott and Wyatt Nichols; and his pet Jack.

Memorials may be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
