She was predeceased by: her parents, McKindley D. Cole and June Cole (Clowry); her daughters, Pamela S. Langley and DeEtta Schrum; her brothers, Robert and Larry Cole; and her grandchildren, Sheila Ann Collier and Rob Rude.

She is survived by: her former husband Robert Van Meter; her husband Allen E. "Gene" Fissel; her children, Teresa "Terry" Sibbitt of Logansport and Jeffrey Fissel (Melissa Rush) of Logansport; and her stepchildren, Linda Price (Mel) of Twelve Mile, Larry Fissel of Whitmore Lake, MI and Stephen Fissel (Beverly) of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
