He was predeceased by: his father Richard Rex. He is survived by: his mother Mary Shipe, Sr. (Gundrum); his fiancée Sue Oberlander-Smith; his siblings, Deborah Armey (Sam) of Sturgis, Carol Carpenter (Michael) of Sturgis, Richard Shipe (Kathy) of Sturgis and Dave Shipe (Debra) of Bronson; and his stepsiblings, Paul Holley, Jr. (Cinda) of Young America, Indiana and Patricia Rust of Grant. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
