He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Patton and Flora Mae Reiber Patton; his grandson Jeffery Butler; his stepson Tom Barkas; and his half-brother George Buntain.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Eskew; his daughters, Lou Ann French of Kokomo and Barbara Butler of Kokomo; and his stepchildren, Barbara "Barbie" Barkas-Frechette (Josh Frechette) and George Barkas.
