He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Hewitt and Luetta Hewitt (Reinholt); his wife Carol Jean Hewitt; his daughter Crystal Hewitt; and his siblings, Gerald Hewitt, Jack Hewitt, Harold Reinholt and Shirley Hallam.

He is survived by: his sister Ethel Campbell; and his stepchildren, Connie Winn and James Moss.
