He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew McCartney and Margaret McCartney (Hammon); and his son-in-law Robert Birnell. He is survived by: his daughters, Tamara Birnell of Logansport and Jennie Fry (Jessey) of Peru; his grandchildren, Michael Fonseca, Payten Birnell, Braylynn Padgett, Liberty Birnell, Ryker Birnell, Everlei Saylor and Angelina Ziemer; and his great grandchildren, Lillian Frankenberger and Oaklei Wharton.
