He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Payne and Dorothy Payne (Wright); his siblings, Rex Payne, Max Payne, Cheryl Shields, Judy Metzger, Joe Payne, Vanetta Graves and Jack Bough; and his sister-in-law Betty Jean Barnes (Dean).

He is survived by: his children, Roy Payne (Lita) of Dubai and Melanie Pitstick (Dan) of Indianapolis; his grandchildren, Shakole Lewis (Jarrod) of Linton, Brandon Payne of Kansas City and Abigail Pitstick of Indianapolis; his great grandchildren, Noah, Sophie and Hunter Raye; and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Anderson (Alice) and Don Anderson (Sharren).

Memorial Donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, through the funeral home.
