He was predeceased by: his parents, James Raymond Amburgey and Lois Everidge; his stepfather Hillard Hammonds; his daughter Tammy Dawn Amburgey; his siblings, Charles Amburgey and Edith Hartman; and his mother-in-law Polly Short.
He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Shelton Amburgey of Lexington, Indiana; his children, Kyle Amburgey (Tiffany) of Lexington, Noopy Anderson, Bruce Amburgey (Tesla Matthews) of Hanover, James Hillard Aaron Amburgey (Yvonne Wilson) of Chelsea, Indiana, Angie Amburgey (Scottie Layne) of Kentucky, Deann "Tweet" Boggs of Kentucky and Lori Lashelle Amburgey (Andy Davidson) of Madison, Indiana; his grandson Clay Anthony Curtisinger III of Madison, Indiana; his siblings, Bill Hammonds (Barbara Hall) of Wolf Pen, Kentucky and Nancy Carol Durbin of Union, Illionis; and his sister-in-law Gloria Watt of Arizonia. He is also survived by his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
