He was predeceased by: his mother Bessie Mae Barrus Gruwell (Brown); his stepparents, Pauline and Frank Stone; his son David Barrus; and his siblings, Robert and Suzie.
He is survived by: his father James Irwin Barrus; his wife Karolyn A. Barrus of Leesburg, IN; his children, DeWayne Edward (Liz) Barrus and Diane Elaine (James) VanHuffel; his grandchildren, Denise, Larissa and Stephanie; and his sister Debra (Don) Spivey (FL).
