He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Howell and Helen Howell (Petzke); his former wife Alice May Howell (Wilson); his wife Marilyn Pat Howell (Merrill); his sons, Daniel "Melvin" Howell and Timothy "Tim" Howell; his daughter-in-law Sandy Howell; his sister Corinne Willey; and his brothers-in-law, Chet Decker and Gordon Cunningham.
He is survived by: his children, Cristine Jester (Mitch) of Lebanon and Stephen Howell (Debbie) of Indianapolis; his stepson David Wingate (Julie) of Indianapolis; and his siblings, Richard Howell (Mary) of Salem Oregon, Charlotte Cunningham of Lincoln and Helen Decker (Chet) of Richland Center, Wisconsin.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
