He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce Herbert and Wilma Lois Shaffer (Hatfield). He is survived by: his wife Saralee Shaffer of Lebanon; his children, Cindy McQuinn (Bret) of Plymouth, MN, Scott Shaffer (Jeanne) of Tucson, AZ, Michelle Byrum (Steve) of Kokomo and David Shaffer (Sarah) of Pittsboro; his siblings, Jan Smith (Sonny) of Auburn, AL and Roger Shaffer (Phyllis) of Ruffin, NC; his grandchildren, Kelan (Lauren), Bryce (Megan), Jared, Madison, Megan, Ethan, Emma, Christina, Aidan, Eliza, Ella, Andrew, Isaiah, Adeline, Abraham and Isabelle; and his great grandchildren, Evelyn and Hadley.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Anderson University or the Lebanon Christian Church where he was an active member.
