He was predeceased by: his parents, Allan Benning and Myrtle Benning (Steirman); his wife Laney Elva Benning; his nephews, Danny Steiner and Jerry Steiner; his great-nephew Robert Steiner; and his siblings, Allan Benning and Marthella Herndon.
He is survived by: his nephew Richard McAllister; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Ronnie McAllister (Rita), Rodney Steiner (Karen), Vickie McAllister and Leeann Hall; his cousins, Peggy Lockwood (Bud) and Wayne Benning; and also, Angie Koyna (family: Steve) and Stacie Stevenson (Bill).
