He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Cowan and Dicie Cowan (Ball); his wife Lillian; and his siblings, Mary Rose Wolfe, Ernest Cowan, Bill Cowan and George Cowan.
He is survived by: his children, Nancy Spurlock (Ronald C.) of Connersville and Dave Cowan (Janice) of Brookville; and his brothers, Maynard Cowan of Moulton and Roland Cowan of Elgin, Arizona. He is also survived by four grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
