It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mel Kopanakis of Lake Station, Indiana, who passed away on October 15, 2020, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, George Kopanakis and Katerina Kopanakis; and his wife Sofia Tsimalis. He is survived by: his children, George Kopanakis (Lisa) of Hobart and Niki Syllantavos (Dimitri) of Chicago; his grandchildren, Menelaos Kopanakis, Phillip Syllantavos, Amanda Hirsch (Daniel) and Dylan Stuckey; and his great grandchild Derek Hirsch.

Face masks and social distancing will be required for attendance to services.
