It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eldon J. Sumpter of Lagrange, Indiana, born in Etna Green, Indiana, who passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sumpter and Lizzie Ann Sumpter (Mast); his daughter-in-law Arlene Sumpter; his stepgranddaughter Mindy Rueckert; and his siblings, Dorothy Schumucker, Annabelle Yoder and Homer Huffman.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Ellen Hoak of LaGrange, IN; his children, Joan Sumpter of Greenfield, IN, Debra Misner (Randy) of Wolcottville, IN, Sherilyn Myers of Kansas City, MO, William "Bill" Sumpter of Prole, IA and Robert "Bob" Sumpter of LaGrange, IN; his grandchildren, Derek Sumpter (Liza) of Greenfield, IN, Ehren Misner (Wendy) of Wolcottville, IN, Ryan Misner (Nicholle) of Fort Worth, TX, Shawn Clark of Kansas City, MO, Jamie Clark Young (Bryan) of South Bend, IN, Mark Sumpter (Sarah) of Norwalk, IA, Laura Lindsay Sumpter Cardosa of Kendallville, IN, Kate Sumpter (Zaden) of Sturgis, MI, Michelle Myers-Coleman of Kansas City, MO and Sony Sumpter of Ligonier, IN; his stepgrandchildren, Devon Miller (Linda) of Waukee, IA, Shawn Thoms (Patty) of Howe, IN and Kelly Fields of Sturgis, MI; his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Everett Sumpter, Dalton, Cael, Teague, Beckham Misner, Hailey Misner Griffith (Anthony), Chance, Alleyce, Gabrielle Misner, Mindy Lynn May, Jasmine, Jayden Grayson, Jala Grayson, Charles IV, Isabel and Shelby Coleman; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Adalee, Colton Miller, Ross, Chole Anderson, Tayler, Kameron, Chandler Thoms and Kurt Logan Fields; his great great grandchildren, Rylynn, Malana, Kaleya Moore and Avia Summers; his stepgreat-grandson Weston Thoms; and his great great grandchild Willow Rae Summers.
