Mary E. Burks Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary E. Burks (Lafayette, Indiana), who passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Otto Simmermeyer and Marie Simmermeyer (Batesville) of Batesville; her husband Eulan Burks (Cliff) of Freeland Park; her daughter Suzan; and her siblings, Theresa Sparks (Cincinnati), Robert Simmermeyer (Batesville), Esther Ransom (Lakeville), Augusta Ertel (South Bend), James Simmermeyer (New Carlisle), Johnny Simmermeyer (South Bend), Thomas Simmermeyer (Greensburg) and Mike Simmermeyer (Cincinnati).

She is survived by: her children, Jim (Debbie), Debbie (Jim), John (Chris), Beth (Dan) and Jason (Leslie); and her son-in-law John Burke. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church (1916 Meharry St, Lafayette, IN 47904). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 12:45 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to St. Lawrence; Memo… "Burks and Burke Scholarship Fund".
