It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Martene Joan Byers of Lafayette, Indiana, born in Kokomo, Indiana, who passed away on November 6, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gerald Omer and May Aline "Ileene" Porter; her husband Charles "Chuck" Byers of Kokomo; and her children, Kevin and Teresa Byers.

She is survived by: her children, Charles "Chip" Byers Jr. (Anabelle) of Texas, Bryan Byers (Dawn) of Kokomo and Betsy Jansma (Mark) of Lafayette; and her siblings, Janet Fenn (John) and Gerald Porter (Phyllis). She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Martene to St. Jude Children's Hospital, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
