Bishop William L. Higi Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Bishop William L. Higi (Lafayette, Indiana), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 3, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Bishop William has departed this earthly realm, his legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May his spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
He was predeceased by: his father Pope John Paul II; his sister Julie Marie Eckstein; and his sister-in-law Noreen Beardmore. He is survived by: his sister Linda Rochelli.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception (1207 Columbia St, Lafayette, IN 47901). Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM and on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location. A prayer was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the St. Mary's Cemetery (2122 Old Romney Rd, Lafayette, IN 47909).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foundation's Fund for the Future, established by Bishop William Higi.
