He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellsworth Jay Thompson "Tommy" and Helen Samantha Wright Thompson of Laconia, Indiana.; his son John Craig Thompson; and his sister Rita Prechtel. He is survived by: his wife Mary Rose Wilson; his children, Robert Jay Thompson, Jr. (Nakesha), Chrissa Michelle Hines (Robbie) and Ashliegh Smith; his brother Jerry Thompson (Mary Ann); his grandchildren, Elliot, Samantha, Kristin and Justin; and his nephew Jason (Bob). He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial gifts be made to Smith Campground Cemetery Fund.
