With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Thelma McGinnis of La Porte, Indiana, who passed away on May 2, 2021 at the age of 85. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Thelma McGinnis to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Emery Flavious and Mary Elizabeth Schoff (Lovekin); her husband Jack Merle McGinnis, Sr.; her children, Don Scheidel and Betty Scheidel; her siblings, William, Cecil, George, Donald, Warren, Emery, Robert, Howard Schoff, Ethel Wanmer, Esther Conley and Jennie Schoff; and her great great grandchildren, Emma and Aria Scarborough.
She is survived by: her children, Jack "Skip" McGinnis (Dawn) of La Porte, JoAnne Faught (Bob) of Valparaiso, Walter "Gator" McGinnis (Congetta) of La Porte, Thomas McGinnis of La Porte and Mary Lou Belcher (David) of Chapmansville, WV; her sister Rose Gribble of Logansport; and her brothers-in-law, Larry McGinnis (Marge) of La Porte and Earl McGinnis (Carol) of Michigan City. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren.
Due to the recent La Porte County Order, anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask.
