He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lois Emery and Poorman; his wife Lois Lagenour; his children, Angie Rippe (Mike Kingery) of Chesterton, Anita Elkins, Sheri Gilbert (Tom) of Michigan City, Norman Self (Beth) of Chesterton, Charles W. Self of La Porte and Michelle Welton (Todd) of Union Mills; his sister Judy Rhodes; his children, Althea Long, Anthony Self and Alan Lee Self; and his siblings, Gail Truxel, Bruce Emory, Emma Hearn and Kay Hearn. He was also cherished by 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 6 great, great-grandchildren.
