He is survived by: his children, Nicolette "Sis" Nelson (Dennis) of La Porte, Indiana and Keith Blower of La Porte, Indiana; his grandchildren, Amanda Nelson (Michael), Vicki Nelson, Dennis Nelson Jr., Nathaniel Edward Blower and Dawn Lowe; his great grandchildren, Asheley, Summer, Audrey, Haylee, Noah, Hunter, Brody, Benjamin, Adelaide, Calvin, Dennis III, Cameron and Brooklyn; and his great great grandchild Phillip.
