He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Martin Carl and Grace Strieter (Dunaj); his girlfriend Sherry Strieter of Niles, MI; his sons, Philip Strieter of La Porte and David Sorensen of Rolling Meadows, Illinois; his brothers, Carl Strieter (Judy) of Rolling Prairie, Robert Strieter (Sharon) of New Carlisle and Richard Strieter (Terri) of Rolling Prairie; his grandchildren, Jacob Veatch, Lydia Strieter and Celeste Barclay; and his son Andrew Strieter. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
