He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John W. Utpatel and Frances Utpatel (Potkey); his wife Patricia "Patsy" Hill Utpatel; his sons, Robert of Michigan City and Jeff Utpatel of Michigan City; his stepsons, George Hayes (Leanne) of La Porte and William Hayes (Mary) of Tippecanoe, Indiana.; and his siblings, Pamela Foldenauer (Steven) of Somerville, Tennessee. and John David Utpatel. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
