He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Sawyer and Cora Sawyer (Day); his wife Sandra Sawyer; his brother Byron Sawyer; and his granddaughter Elizabeth Sawyer.
He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Henning (Scott) of La Porte, IN and Donald Sawyer Jr. (Robin) of La Porte, IN; his stepchildren, Doug Ainsworth, Kendra Ainsworth and Joanna Gumm (Tom) of La Porte, IN; his sisters, Patricia Erne of Carmel, IN and Jean Bartmess (Richard) of La Porte, IN; and his grandchildren, Ryan Lopez, Alexander Lopez, Mariah Vowell, John Paul Sawyer, Ashley Sawyer, Derek Sawyer, Christopher Beige, Matthew Beige, Kaitlyn Long, Emily Roberts, Keith Ainsworth, Melissa Kist, Britne Winter and Justin Green. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
Because of Donald's desire to help all people in the La Porte area, the family has asked that memorial contributions may be made in his name to the non-profit Center Township for the People, Inc. 1108 W SR-2, La Porte, IN 46350.
