He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron G. Newland and Rosa May Newland (Johnson); his former wife Sophie Newland; his wife Mary Newland; his grandchildren, Dan Butler and Ruth Sternitzke; and his siblings, Orville, Garland Newland and Vivian Brettin.
He is survived by: his children, Donald Newland (Kathy) of La Porte, Donna Butler (Carney) of La Crosse and Charlotte Miller (William) of Blair, Wisconsin. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 47 great, great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
