Azzle Mercer Obituary
76, of LaCrosse passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He was born October 1, 1941 in Yuma, Arizona to Aster & Rhoda E. (Campbell) Mercer. Pete served proudly with the U.S. Army, was a member of the Wanatah American Legion Post #403, and enjoyed golfing at Chesapeake Run Golf Club in North Judson. Pete made his career with Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years retiring in 1999 as a crane operator.
His computer room hideaway at home was legendary and his Honda Limited Edition "Shadow" filled a place in his heart that only his great granddaughter's smile could rival. On December 23, 1962 he married Janice I. Lichtwark who survives along with their son, William Mercer of LaCrosse, granddaughter, Miranda "Mandy" Mercer (Keon) of LaCrosse, great granddaughter, Kalianna and siblings, Debbie, Linda & Tim.
Pete was preceded in death by his sons, Keith in 2002 and Dean in 1962 and a sister, Charlene. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday from 1 – 3 pm at Kosanke Funeral Home , Kouts with memorial service beginning at 3:00 pm, Pastor Randy Schrock officiating. Private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
