She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry J. Smith and Gertrude Smith; her sisters, Orpha Sparling Powell, Josie Poff and Betty Mills Arnett Shook; and her husband John Stewart.

She is survived by: her children, Julie Herron (Murry) of Clearwater, FL and Jeff Stewart of Kokomo; her grandchildren, Gina Hallam (Steve) of Logansport, Lisa Cavalleri of Oldsmar, FL, Angela Cunningham (Vince), Christian Herron of Elizabethtown, KY, Danielle Akers (Nick) of Ft. Wayne and Summer Stewart of Tipton; and her siblings, Col. Harry J. Smith of Rockford, IL and Emma Jackson of Terre Haute. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
