He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvis Elzy Bowen and Mae Ruth Williams (White); his children, John W. Bowen Jr. and Joyce Mulkey; his grandson Tony Bass; and his siblings, Patty Shields, Wilma Best, Bobbi Smith, Sonny, Jim Williams, George Williams and Max Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Ellen O'vadka Jaqua; his daughters, Erika Baka (James) and Elizabeth Sanford (Brice); his grandchildren, Brant Bowen (Jamie), Brody Bowen, Matthew Baka, Ashley Baka, Zachary Baka, Breven Sanford (Abby), Courtney Williams (Brayden) and Preston Sanford; his great grandchildren, Brayden Bass, Joe Bowen, Kaydience Bowen and Piper Sanford; and his siblings, Larry Mosier and Pam McKinney (Donnie).
