He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Hatfield and Arrabella Hatfield; his siblings, Marion "DoDo" Ellis, Fred Ellis, Fredrick Hatfield, Gerald Hatfield, Susiebelle Hatfield Wisterman and Gretchen Hatfield Applegate; his former wife Nyla Hatfield; and his grandson Ryan Hatfield.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Hatfield of Kokomo; his sons, Rodney Hatfield (Linda) of Alamosa, CO and Jeffrey Hatfield of Marion; his stepchildren, Johnathan Jasay (Bobbi) of Kokomo and Kelly Fife of Pittsboro; and his stepgrandchildren, Dakota Jasay of Kokomo, Joseph of Kokomo, Levi Jasay of Kokomo, Austin Jasay (Cassadi) of Marion, Jewel Jasay of Kokomo, Jeanette Richmond (Kraig) of Kokomo, Lydia Jasay of Kokomo, Laura Jasay of Kokomo and Shelby Roose of Pittsboro. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
